The “Special Mention” distinction of the German Design Awards is awarded for remarkable design achievements. Design submissions that impress with a special approach or aspect can stand out from the competition with the “Special Mention” label.
German Design Council – the awarding authority
The German Design Council Foundation has been operating since 1953 as the world’s leading institution for communication and knowledge transfer in the fields of design, brand and innovation. With international offers, talent promotion and memberships, it is part of the global design community and has always contributed to establishing exchange and networks worldwide. Through events, congresses, competitions, jury meetings and expert groups, the German Design Council Foundation networks its members and numerous other international design and brand experts, promotes discourse and provides important impetus for the global economy. Its members currently include more than 330 companies.
Facts about the German Design Awards 2024
The proportion of international submissions in 2024 was 53%. In total, products and projects from 55 countries were submitted. In the three award disciplines, a total of 65 products/projects were honoured with “Gold” in 2024. 32 of them in the “Excellent Product Design” category, 18 in “Excellent Communications Design” and 15 in “Excellent Architecture”.
Jury
Twelve nationalities are represented on the jury of the German Design Awards 2024. It is made up of renowned design experts from business, education and science as well as the design industry.
